Simon Belmont was once a great vampire hunter. He managed to single-handedly destroy all of the vampires in Mushroom Kingdom. However, that also kind of put him out of a job. Nowadays he spends most of his time drinking, predicting a zombie appocalypse and randomly accusing people of being vampires. He's broken out of numerous jails and mental institutions causing the local authorities just to ignore him because it's just much simpler that way.
